Symbian 9.1
here is a list of applications (free and commercial) I’ve found to be indispensable with my Nokia E61

This little ripper is a application that allows you to control a PC or a Mac from a handheld device – over 100 devices are supported. For Symbian 9.1 devices, there’s a java application that will work until Salling finish the native version (which will support WiFi too).

Assuming you’re not one of those ol’ fuddy-duddies that insist on reading a real book (the smell, the feel of the pages, waah waah!), MobiReader is an app that will display eBooks on handheld devices. It does things like fullscreen, auto scroll, rotation, bookmarks, etc. I couldn’t live without it.

If you’re like me, and unable to bear the thought of not being disconnected from all your friends for even one second, this app is quite useful – it’s a MSN/AIM/ICQ/Yahoo client.

A SSH client, for when you just gotta…No, I got nothing, but you never know.

Same old Adobe PDF Reader, but 1/8th the size.

A free and relatively full-featured file manager. This is useful for doing this like sending files over bluetooth and managing files that the normal interface doesn’t let you see.

A mobile blogger application, supporting the Blogger and MetaWeblog APIs. It has camera support, and allows saving posts.

A very usable and fully featured client for Google Maps – supports zooming and panning, bookmarks, both maps and satellite overlays. Never get lost again (until you’re out of range..) – although look out for the amount of traffic this thing generates if you’re on an expensive data plan.

A mobile VNC client, for when the computer is just too far from the couch. Tends to be a bit tricky to use, but when you’re out of objects to aim at the keyboard, this will do.
